Like a Day Lily: Embracing the Season You’re In

While walking a forgotten trail behind our homestead, I noticed something that stopped me mid-step — a single Day Lily bursting with fiery orange in a sea of summer green. It wasn’t planted. It wasn’t manicured. It simply was. Gloriously alive, fulfilling its purpose in a single day.
It whispered truth to my spirit: everything flourishes in its appointed season.
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”— Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
This lily doesn’t strive. It doesn’t stretch beyond its grace. It blooms, just for a day, yet in that moment it testifies louder than most of us do in a lifetime. It reminded me that hustle isn’t holiness. Constant striving is not Kingdom living. God designed us for rhythms — sacred pauses, deep relationships, and the kind of peace that isn’t earned, but embraced.
At Hollercraft Academy, we are returning to that design. We believe in dirt under our nails and Scripture in our souls. We raise our children to hear God in the wind, to find Him by the fire, and to build a life that honors the old paths — the kind walked by faithful ancestors who knew that simple doesn’t mean small, and slow doesn’t mean stagnant.
“Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”— Luke 12:27 (KJV)
